Wanda Corn on “Dressing for the Photographer: Georgia O’Keeffe and Her Clothes”

Georgia O’Keeffe’s sartorial style became an intimate part of her artistic identity. She dressed like she painted, highly valuing abstraction, simplicity, and seriality. In a lecture titled, “Dressing for the Photographer: Georgia O’Keeffe and Her Clothes,” art historian and Living Modern guest curator, Wanda M. Corn will explore the way O’Keeffe used her distinctive taste in clothes to model for photographers, creating a public persona for O’Keeffe that still dominates the American imagination today.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada has partnered with talented local artists of varying styles and mediums to produce an eclectic collection of visual art celebrating young imaginations. These lands are as varied and creative as the Littles who made them – sometimes scary, sometimes tranquil, sometimes silly but all the time a chance for a blossoming writer to express themselves and practice those invaluable literary skills. Our Littles documented their adventures in travel passports that were then passed on to artists to inform and inspire their work. This exhibition will showcase art, writing, and the way in which our community can come together to encourage and defend the potential of our youth. Participating artists include: Emily Kray, Arthur “Artie” Richmond, We...

4x4x48 Music Video Challenge

The Holland Project challenged film directors to create a music video from start-to-finish for local bands of Holland’s choosing in just 48 hours. Each filmmaker was also tasked with incorporating five elements into their films (as chosen by last year’s filmmakers). The five elements were not revealed until the clock was punched at the start of their 48-hour journey.
